Sebeka (/ s ə ˈ b iː k ə / sə-BEE-kə) is a city in Wadena County, Minnesota, United States. Its population was 711 at the 2010 census. [6] The name comes from an Ojibwe word meaning "town by the water". The county terrain slopes to the west and south. [10] The highest points on the county terrain are at two different locations: Inspiration Peak , at 1,727 ft (526 m), and Pekan Peak (unofficial name) a summit northeast of the village of Urbank in Folden Township, Section 32, at 1,800 ft (550 m) above sea level. In 2010 there were four organized school districts in the county: Wadena, Verndale, Sebeka and Menahga. In 1906 there were 52 school districts in the county, most of which were rural schools. Sebeka once had Minnesota's second-largest creamery. Over the years there have been approximately ten creameries in the county and ten cheese factories. [5]

The West Central Area School District (#2342) is located in the west central part of Minnesota. It consists of the towns of Kensington, Hoffman, Barrett, Elbow Lake, and Wendell. There are also students from Herman, Donnelly, Ashby, Evansville, Fergus Falls, Nashua, and Campbell. The district has two elementary schools consisting of grades K-4.
