In the 1970s Pittsburgh Brewing Company acquired the Queen City Brewing Company. At its peak, the Queen City brewery produced over 250,000 barrels of beer and ale a year in Cumberland. Queen City Brewing closed in 1974, citing rising costs of agricultural products and packaging. [8] The year had been a tumultuous one for Queen City.
