Please Sir! is a 1971 British comedy film directed by Mark Stuart and starring John Alderton, Deryck Guyler and Carol Hawkins. [1] Written by John Esmonde and Bob Larbey, it is a spin-off from the ITV television series Please Sir! (1968–1972). [2] [3] It was released by the Rank Organisation on 10 September 1971.
He continued the role into the 1971 feature film comedy version, also called Please Sir!. McFee had made his film debut in the 1969 satirical anti-war musical Oh! What a Lovely War. [2] The Please Sir! TV series spawned a comedy sequel called The Fenn Street Gang, which ran from 1971 to 1973.
NOTE: All of these episode descriptions have been taken from the DVD sleeves of the Please Sir DVDs, released by Network (In Australia, Series One and Two are available as one set of DVDs, Series Three (along with the 1971 Please Sir movie) as another). Note: The first series was in an experimental 40-minute format (to fit in a 45-minute slot).
John Alderton (born 27 November 1940) [1] is an English actor. He is best known for his roles in Upstairs, Downstairs, Thomas & Sarah, Wodehouse Playhouse, Little Miss (original television series), Please Sir!, No - Honestly and Fireman Sam (the original series).
Her few film roles included the movie version of Please Sir! (1971), and a brief appearance as a maid in Julius Caesar (1970). She worked extensively in radio at the BBC, appearing in 54 radio broadcasts during the period 1967 to 1984, [1] mostly drama productions, including for the BBC World Service drama department and for Radio 3.
