The Turbans were an American doo-wop vocal group that formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1953. The original members were: Al Banks (lead tenor), Matthew Platt (second tenor), Charlie Williams (baritone), and Andrew "Chet" Jones (bass). They came from Downtown Philadelphia (around Bainbridge and South Street).
Oldies-45 was a sub-label of Vee-Jay Records. It was started in 1963 to distribute their old 45 rpm records. Some Beatles singles were reissued briefly in 1964 on the label.
In 1981, after years of receiving airplay on “oldies” format radio, six of their songs would be released as an album by Lost Nite Records produced in red vinyl. [2] The group continues to receive airplay on “Oldies” format radio stations and their songs have appeared regularly on Doo-wop and 50’s Oldies compilations.

Collectables Records released recordings by Johnny "Guitar" Watson, the Cleftones, and other doo wop albums. Loria and Barbella left the group in 1993. Chance, Tribuzio and Coleman remained as the group's core with a rotation of members rounding out the act. They continued to perform and record and were considered to be popular on the doo wop / oldies revival circuit. [3] In 2008, the group was honored with a place on The Bronx Walk of Fame.
