Southampton, officially the Town of Southampton, is a town in southeastern Suffolk County, New York, partly on the South Fork of Long Island. As of the 2020 U.S. census, the town had a population of 69,036. [2] Southampton is included in the stretch of shoreline prominently known as the Hamptons. Southampton is an incorporated village in the Town of Southampton in Suffolk County, on the South Fork of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 4,550 at the 2020 census, an increase of 46.3% from the 2010 census a decade earlier.
The current school building opened in 1974 on Narrow Lane on the east side of Southampton village. [3] Previous the high school was in a complex on the east side of the business district on Montauk Highway/Hampton Road. Most of the complex now is Town Hall for Southampton Town.
The district has 17 contributing buildings located on six farmsteads. It is a rare surviving cohesive collection of historic farmsteads which illustrate Southampton's early agrarian settlement and subsequent agricultural development from 1684 to 1910. [2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. [1]

Bridgehampton's first public school was the Two Chimney Schoolhouse, opened in 1720. [1] [7] [18] The building was located at Bull's Head – later known as Triangle Common – the intersection of what is now Montauk Highway and the Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike (about 0.5 miles (0.80 km) from the current school building).
