The Seattle Municipal Court serves the City of Seattle.. According to Seattle City Ordinance 3.33.010, "[T]he purpose of the Court is to try violations of City ordinances and all other actions brought to enforce or recover license penalties or forfeitures declared or given by any such ordinances and perform such other duties as may be authorized by law."

It is based at the King County Courthouse, 516 Third Avenue, in downtown Seattle, Washington. It also operates a juvenile facility and a Regional Justice Center in Kent , southeast of Seattle. As of November 2018, the court has 53 judges who have general jurisdiction to hear major civil and criminal cases.
King County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. The population was 2,269,675 in the 2020 census, [1] making it the most populous county in Washington, and the 12th-most populous in the United States. The county seat is Seattle, [2] also the state's most populous city.
The city government moved their offices from the County–City Building in 1962; the building was renamed the King County Courthouse in August of that year. [4] Modernization efforts in 1967 added air conditioning and heavily modified the appearance of the building.
