St. Helen's School, Abingdon was founded in 1903 by the Community of St Mary the Virgin to provide a Christian education for girls. In 1938, St Helen's merged with Wantage-based St. Katharine's School, which had been founded in 1894. The merged schools became St. Helen & St. Katharine, in Abingdon. [1]

In 1846, Henni completed Old St. Mary's Church in Milwaukee, the second Catholic church in Milwaukee. [9] Designed by architect Victor Schulte in the Zopfstil style, St. Mary's was built to serve German immigrants. The Annunciation altarpiece in St. Mary's, painted by Franz Xavier Glink was donated to the diocese by King Ludwig I of Bavaria. [10]

Saint Thomas More High School was established in 1972 by the merger of Don Bosco and Pio Nono High Schools. It was initially named Thomas More High School, but the "Saint" was added to the name in the summer of 2007 to re-emphasize the school's Catholic heritage, at the request of Archbishop Timothy Dolan.
