The Bulldogs have played in a bowl game every year since this decision, giving recent players at least one extra game each year to accumulate statistics. The Bulldogs have played in the College Football Playoff National Championship three times (in 2017, 2021, and 2022), giving players in those seasons yet another game.

Paddock went unnoticed his freshman year at halfback, until he was moved to the quarterback position in the game with Georgia Tech and led the Bulldogs to a 20 to 0 victory. Paddock is the only player in school history to have a petition circulated by the student body requesting that he play for the Bulldogs.
