The Penobscot Salmon Club is a historic private fishing club on North Main Street and the Penobscot River in Brewer, Maine.Established in 1887 and incorporated in 1894, it is the oldest fishing club in the United States, and a rare surviving 19th century gentleman's outdoor club.
Formed circa 1890, the club comprises 50 dwellings clustered inside nearly 26,000 acres of private land, including area in and around the Huron Mountains. The club began as a remote hunting and fishing club for outdoor enthusiasts. The original charter limited membership to 50 partners. [1]

The South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club was a Pennsylvania corporation that operated an exclusive and secretive retreat at a mountain lake near South Fork, Pennsylvania. Its members were more than 50 extremely wealthy industrialists and their families.
On April 27, 1844, the club was incorporated under the name Schuylkill Fishing Company. When the fish in the Schuylkill were poisoned by sewage, the club was forced to move again.
