Glittering Images: A Journey Through Art from Egypt to Star Wars is a 2012 book by American cultural critic Camille Paglia, in which the author discusses notable works of applied and visual art from ancient to modern times. Paglia wrote that she intended it to be a personalized "journey" through art history, focusing on Western works.
Before the creation of the book, Chinese art-related works mainly focused on appreciation and cataloging, such as Gu Kaizhi's (顾恺之) On Painting and Xie He's (谢赫) Classified Record of Ancient Paintings. Zhang Yanyuan thus pioneered Chinese art history by being the first to document painters in a chronological format.
In 1982, CBS-TV had him do a painting for the 3-part mini-series The Blue and the Gray, and in 1993 a one-hour television special, Images of the Civil War - The Paintings of Mort Künstler, was shown on the A&E TV network. He has received numerous honors and awards, and at least nine books are dedicated to featuring his artwork.
