Our living history interpreter and reenactors take you all the way back to the 1840s - and that's a fur piece. Visit the Red River Trading Post, a re-creation of a structure that once stood about 50 miles southeast of the museum. It's a hoot. The Trading Post operates Tuesday through Saturday througout the year, weather permitting.
The historical artifact collection at the Museum of the Great Plains contains tens-of-thousands of objects. Some are bigger than others. You know, a steam locomotive, buildings, those kinds of things. Researchers of all statures welcome by appointment.
Every quarter, the Museum of the Great Plains offers an evening event for special needs families in our community. If you or someone you know has autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADHD, PTSD, or some other form of sensory sensitivity or neurodivergence, this after-hours event is a must.
A family membership provides free admission for up to five people. You also get a 10% discount on regular merchandise in the museum store, and invitations to members-only events.
