Enrofloxacin otic (brand name Baytril® Otic) is an antibacterial/antifungal agent used in the treatment of ear infections in dogs and cats. Its use in cats is off-label. Many drugs are commonly prescribed for off-label use in veterinary medicine.
Treatments were administered twice daily for up to 14 days. Assessment of effectiveness was based on continued resolution of clinical signs 3 to 4 days following administration of the last dose. At study conclusion, Baytril Otic was found to be a significantly more effective treatment for canine otitis externa than the placebo regimen.
How To Use It. Note: This medicine should only be used under the guidance of your vet. Usually, when treating susceptible ear infections you will administer between 5 and 15 drops every 12 hours (twice daily) for up to 14 days, shaking the bottle well before each use.
