Dawei [2] (Burmese: ထားဝယ်; MLCTS: hta: wai, pronounced; Mon: ဓဝဲါ, pronounced; Thai: ทวาย, RTGS: Thawai, pronounced [tʰā.wāːj]; formerly known as Tavoy) is a city in south-eastern Myanmar and is the capital of the Tanintharyi Region, formerly known as the Tenasserim Division, on the eastern bank of the Dawei River.
Dawei District (Burmese: ထားဝယ်ခရိုင်) is a district of the Taninthayi Division of Myanmar. The district covers an area of 13,792 km 2 , and had a population of 493,576 at the 2014 Census.
The 2014 Myanmar Census reported that Dawei Township had a population of 125,605. [3] The population density was 29.4 people per km 2. [3] The census reported that the median age was 28.5 years, and a sex ratio of 92 males per 100 females. [3] There were 45,753 households; the mean household size was 4.6. [3]
The library received its name on April 14, 1978, when the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh issued the decision.
