The Rebels finished the 2020 season 12–13 overall, and 0–3 in the SEC. The season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Following the season, interim head coach Ruben Felix was not retained.
The Rebels finished the 2019 season 41–20 overall, and 13–10 in the SEC to finish fifth in the conference. The Rebels hosted a regional during the 2019 NCAA Division I softball tournament and later advanced to the Tucson Super Regional against Arizona.

The Tennessee Lady Volunteers softball team represents the University of Tennessee (UT) in Knoxville, Tennessee in NCAA Division I women's softball competition. Coached by Karen Weekly, the team has become a consistently top-tier team in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), appearing in every NCAA tournament since 2004, and qualifying for 8 Women's College World Series.
