The Montana Legislature established Sheridan County in 1913 from portions of Dawson and Valley Counties. It was named for American Civil War General Philip Sheridan. [3] In the 1920s and 1930s the county was a hotbed of communist organizing. The CPUSA managed to elect several town and county officials.
Edgerton County, Montana Territory created February 2, 1865, renamed Lewis and Clark County, Montana Territory March 1, 1868. Big Horn County, Montana Territory [12] created February 2, 1865, renamed Custer County, Montana Territory February 16, 1877.

Dagmar is an unincorporated community in northeastern Sheridan County, Montana, United States. [1] The town was established in 1906 by Danish immigrants to the area. [2] [3] [4] Dagmar currently has a general store and a post office, which has operated since 1907. [5] Dagmar's school closed in 1996.
