Carlingford (from Old Norse Kerlingfjǫrðr 'narrow sea-inlet of the hag'; [2] Irish: Cairlinn) is a coastal town and civil parish in northern County Louth, Ireland. For the purposes of local government, the town is part of the Dundalk Municipal District .
