The heart of Blackwater Refuge can be accessed via the Wildlife Drive, which is a paved road—approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) in length (or a 6.5-mile (10.5 km) loop) [2] —that takes visitors along the Blackwater River and offers excellent views of the local wildlife.
