Marist High School is a private Catholic preparatory high school located in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, operated by the Marist Brothers on behalf of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Marist opened its doors in September 1954, with Brother Leo Sylvius serving as the school's first principal. [9] In 1962, the present campus was acquired to accommodate the school's growth after negotiations led by Brother Leo to acquire land owned by the City of Bayonne, and on April 23, 1964, ground was broken for a new building which would tie together existing buildings on the campus. Founded by the Marist Brothers in 1930, it used to work as elementary and middle school, but in 1960 it also added high school to it services. Due to increased demand, in 1971 "Centro Universitario Montejo" was created to receive the middle and high school students, so "Colegio Montejo" ended as an Elementary School only.
