The band is also a two-time Bands of America Marching Band Grand National Championships Finalist, placing 10th in 2010 and 5th in 2016. UIL holds a series of contests every fall in order to determine the state champion for High School Marching Bands. The state is divided up into 6 categories for high schools, 1A to 6A.
