As Toa Payoh town estate grew in its affluence and size, so did the Church and its parish community. In an effort to reduce noise from the road traffic nearby, Church of the Risen Christ became among the first Roman Catholic Church to install an air-conditioning system within its premises in 1974.
It began by running Parish classes of the Church of St. Theresa, taught by sisters of the Holy Infant Jesus Congregation. It grew to be an integrated school offering teaching in English and Tamil for primary-level students, who generally went on to the "Town Convent" CHIJ at Victoria Street (now CHIJ Toa Payoh) after leaving the school.
The "original" convent school is the present-day CHIJ Secondary and CHIJ Primary schools in Toa Payoh.
