Tanglewood Mall is a shopping mall in southwest Roanoke County, Virginia, United States. It originally opened for business March 28, 1973. The mall is currently managed by Hackney Real Estate Partners. Tanglewood Mall is located at the intersection of US 220 and Route 419. The Roy L. Weber Expressway's southern terminus is the exit with 419.
By 1911, the Roanoke Street Railway Company completed a streetcar line between Raleigh Court/Virginia Heights and downtown. [6] With this streetcar extension, development of the commercial establishments of the present-day Grandin Village accelerated. [3] In 1919, Virginia Heights was annexed into the city of Roanoke.
Crossroads Mall, the first enclosed shopping center in Virginia, [32] and Towers Mall, at the time one of the largest shopping centers in the state, [33] were each completed in 1961. [31] In later years, Tanglewood Mall (1973) [34] and Valley View Mall (1985) [35] contributed to Roanoke's status as the region's retail hub. [36]
It encompasses 1,400,000 square feet (130,000 m 2) of gross leasable area and is the sole enclosed shopping center in Loudoun County. The mall serves a wide geographic area, drawing customers from Loudoun, Fairfax , Clarke , and Frederick counties in Virginia , as well as Jefferson County, West Virginia .
In December 1987, Loudoun County officials approved the jurisdiction's first regional shopping mall. The mall was originally planned to be named the "Windmill Regional Shopping Center" but was later renamed to "Dulles Town Center" in 1988. The original expected opening was set for 1993. Dulles Town Center's developer was Lerner Enterprises. [3]
One Loudoun is a census-designated place (CDP) in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. It is a mixed-use development just south of Virginia State Route 7 , 29 miles (47 km) northwest of Washington, D.C. , and 7 miles (11 km) southeast of Leesburg .
