Methodist Fremont Health is a public district hospital located in Fremont, Nebraska and the only hospital located in Dodge County. [1] The hospital is an affiliate of the Nebraska Methodist Health System. The hospital opened in 1940 as the Dodge County Hospital. In 1945, the hospital changed its name to the Dodge County Community Hospital.
The hospital cares for 14,000 patients every year, including about 81,000 visits to the emergency department a year and 8,800 surgeries per year. [2] Le Bonheur also serves as a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and offers training in general pediatrics and pediatric subspecialties.
Anchored by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, the district is home to major hospitals, emergency rooms, physicians' offices, medical supply manufacturers and distributors, and medical laboratories.

Dallas Methodist Hospital began caring for patients on December 24, 1927, and officially opened as a 100-bed institution on January 27, 1928. A three-story student nurse's residence was built near the hospital in 1951, and the Martin and Charlotte Weiss Educational Building, which provided classroom space for nursing education and a large auditorium for community programming, opened in 1966.
Methodist Hospital was founded by Dr. Scott Stewart, a Methodist physician in Philadelphia, who dedicated $250,000 in his will to assist in building the hospital and a nursing school. The hospital was incorporated in 1881 and ground was broken in 1888. The hospital and nursing school opened in 1892 as Methodist Episcopal Hospital.
