Tribe of Judah was an American rock and roll group formed by vocalist Gary Cherone after his brief 1998 stint with Van Halen. Tribe of Judah featured musicians Cherone had worked with in the band Extreme: bassist Pat Badger and drummer Mike Mangini. An eponymous EP was released in 2001 and a full-length album was released in late 2002.

Cherone grew up in Malden, Massachusetts, and attended Malden High School.He is the third of five brothers and the younger fraternal twin of Greg Cherone. In his teenage years, Cherone turned to singing in local bands and was heavily influenced by the reigning rock frontmen of the day, most notably Roger Daltrey of The Who, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and Queen's Freddie Mercury.
He sang backing vocals on both Dweezil Zappa's album Confessions and the Danger Danger album, Screw It!, along with his Extreme bandmates Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt.He has also sung back-up on a live version of the Van Halen song, "When It's Love" on Sammy Hagar's live album, Live: Hallelujah, on which Cherone sang co-lead vocals with Hagar.
