Ghatkopar (Pronunciation: [ɡʱaːʈkopəɾ]) is a suburb in eastern Mumbai, close to which, the City's International Airport is located. The area is located on the Western corner of the Western Ghats and marks the beginning of the Ghats from Mumbai side.
Ghatkopar is the elevated eastern terminal metro station on the East-West Corridor of the Blue Line 1 of Mumbai Metro serving the Ghatkopar suburb of Mumbai, India. It was opened to the public on 8 June 2014. Ghatkopar is the busiest station on Line 1, with a daily passenger traffic of 115,441 in December 2023.
Asalpha is connected by BEST bus routes to Ghatkopar railway station. The park was designed and laid out in 1881 by Ulhas Ghatkopar over Bombay's main reservoir, some say to cover the water from the potentially contaminating activity of the nearby Towers of Silence. When seen from the air, the walkway inside the park (Hanging Gardens Path), spell out the letters PMG (Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens) in cursive.
