The New Prague City Council approved a service agreement at its Monday, July 18, meeting that will allow contractors to obtain building permits online. City Planning Director Ken Ondich told the council that the online feature is not available yet.
New Prague saw its best year in building permits in more than a decade, especially concerning single family home permits. In 2017 single family construction permits reached 56, nearly double of the 33 issued in 2016. The city also had 175 total housing units for the year, which is the highest total since the city built 307 housing units in 2003.
While the city is doing well in 2009 for commercial and industrial permits, residential building is slow. New Prague Planning Director Ken Ondich said through the first six months of 2009 there have been 20 commercial and industrial permits issued at a value of approximately $1.9 million.
