Minto is a town in midwestern Ontario, Canada, on the Maitland River in Wellington County. Minto is the western terminus of Highway 9 . It is named for Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 4th Earl of Minto ; 8th Governor General of Canada.

Clifford is an unincorporated community in the Town of Minto in Wellington County in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. [1] It is on Ontario Highway 9 and Coon Creek, a stream in the Saugeen River drainage basin. The village of Clifford was founded around 1855 as Minto Village. [3]
It was created in 2003 from parts of Dufferin—Peel—Wellington—Grey, Perth—Middlesex and Waterloo—Wellington ridings. It consists of the County of Perth, and the Town of Minto and the townships of Mapleton and Wellington North in the County of Wellington. [22] As of October 6, 2011, the MPP for the riding is Randy Pettapiece. [23]
