Humble Pie was a transitional album and a harbinger of the band's new, heavier direction. He was the lead guitarist and singer, scoring several British pop hits. Frampton was named "The Face of 1968" by teen magazine Rave. [8] [10] [12] In 1969, when Frampton was 18 years old, he joined Steve Marriott of the Small Faces to form Humble Pie. [13]
