Dungeons & Dragons Computer Fantasy Game is a handheld electronic game released by Mattel in 1981. [1] Designer Peter Oliphant claims that it was one of the more basic projects he worked on during his career.
Up until 1987, a number of games inspired by Dungeons & Dragons had appeared, such as the Wizardry and Ultima series, but these were not licensed from TSR. TSR considered making their own video games and passed on the idea, and instead announced in 1987 that it was looking for a game development partner to make officially-licensed games.
Gold Box is a series of role-playing video games produced by Strategic Simulations from 1988 to 1992. The company acquired a license to produce games based on the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game from TSR, Inc.
