Wishing to give the market a more permanent home, the Atlanta Woman's Club raised almost $300,000 for a fireproof brick and concrete building which opened on May 1, 1924, [1] named the Municipal Market of Atlanta. At the time, it was located in the exact geographic center of Atlanta and quickly became "the place to shop" for every Atlantan. [2]
Northeast Plaza is a 466,000-square-foot (43,300 m 2) strip mall-style shopping center on Buford Highway in Brookhaven, Georgia just east of the Buckhead area of Atlanta. The center was built in late 1957 and renovated in 1986. In the mid-1980s it ranked as the 12th largest retail center in the Atlanta area. [1] [2]

Perimeter Mall was the first mall in metro Atlanta to be located outside of I-285. In 1977, the first Great American Cookie Company store opened at the mall. [3] In 1982, an additional wing that included a Davison's was added. This gave the mall a T shape. Davison's became Macy's in 1986.
