The Schuylkill River Trail (/ ˈ s k uː l k ɪ l / SKOOL-kil, [1] locally /-k əl /) [2] is a multi-use trail along the banks of the Schuylkill River in southeastern Pennsylvania.Partially complete as of 2018, the trail is ultimately planned to run about 140 miles (230 km) from the river's headwaters in Schuylkill County to Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia.
Welcome sign on the Schuylkill River Trail. There are over 30 miles (48 km) of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails within the park, such as the Valley Creek Trail and the River Trail. The main trail is the Joseph Plumb Martin Trail, which consists of a 5-mile (8 km) loop of the park.
The concrete bridge is 604 feet long and 14 feet wide. Upon completion of the bridge, Sullivan's Trail was created to run from the Schuylkill River Trail near the north end of the bridge and connect to the trail system of Valley Forge Park near the south end of the bridge.
