My wiring harness while similar to Painless, is a different brand, and has the wire from the alternator powering the fuse block through a circuit breaker. The instructions also provided for an additional 10ga wire that goes directly to the battery if an alternator bigger than 60amp is used. That wire is short. Maybe 18 inches long. I also ...

I find that Painless 12 circuit harnesses are in the $400 dollar range while Rebel and EZ are in the $175 range. Any opinions which to use and why the price difference. I can not imagine there is that much ease of use differnece between them to justify the cost differential. 53RedRam, May 19, 2008. SHARE POST #1.

The guys at Show from Painless Wiring gave a Painless Hat, and I believe I bought it from Yogi's, and they gave me a shirt, which I sold to my Brother, Sir Thomas, I forget the price I sold it to him for. I installed it in my '39 Chevy. on a weekend. I have also used American & E Z Wiring. E Z is Cheaper, but American is easier to install.

from anderson mo. If you are going to run modern electrical you should go with the after mkt wiring. The 64 wiring will never pull the amp loads for Fans, ignition, headlights, That you will want to use. I would also go with at least a 100 amp alt. 432bullet, Dec 6, 2012.

I'll throw my 2 cents in here since I just melted down my Painless wiring harness. Let's start by you throwing the Painless 10102 under the bus but you're using an outdated schematic of the 10102 harness to do so, which I just bought last week, this is the correct schematic and they don't use the "maxi fuse" any longer. Used Painless, Francis and Autowire. Most of them have been Painless and I have been mostly happy with them. Autowire was fine, and cheaper than Painless. The Ron Francis kit I used was, ok. I like the option of not running wires you do not need, but think that having a aluminum fuse panel makes NO sense.

EZ wiring does not send complete wiring diagram with harness. They give alt, ignition switch wiring for different makes, but that's about all. Now for your question. The 10 gauge red wire should hook directly to battery, normally at the post on the solenoid. GM uses red wires for hot all the time and pink wires for ignition hot.
