5,152. Location. Hereford, Arizona. It's somewhat ironic that, when you're running a 120 volt TV off an inverter, the inverter has to invert 12 volts DC from your batteries to 120 volts AC, and then the TV has to convert 120 volts AC back to a lower DC voltage. Both processes waste a bit of power.
That means the inverter needs the 12 VDC to make the TV work from battery. It can be separate from a larger inverter that you could also have. For smaller loads such as a TV, a smaller inverter usually more efficient, so there could be a smaller one just for the TV. Perhaps your inverter is on a switch that needs to be turned on.
Davison Michigan. There are two or 3 significant differences between your new 12 Volt TV and your old 12 volt tube type tv. Aspect ratio (New on will be wide screen) Power draw) Much lower) Ability to receiver over the air DIGITAL televiso (New one can do it) As for the stuff you are worried about.. Forget it.
In my Tioga class C I have a 19 in. Model 1907 Jensen tv that operates on 12 volt and 110 AC. Unlike other rv'ers, I do not like inverters. I also have a 12 volt DVD player hooked up to the tv. I can use both for about 4 hrs. before the house batteries (two 6 volt batteries) need charging.
Good idea, but unfortunately, it doesn't look like it. There is 12VDC behind that panel. The the button on the front turns on the amplifier for the OTA antenna. Push button in and the little red light comes on. Light on for OTA antenna, light off for cable. 12VDC should be on one of the two plugs I see there.
We run a small inverter 350 watt to power our 42 inch Sony led TV and PS4 for entertainment. That's another option for you. We didn't want to compromise on components and though the TV is actually DC powered the voltage wasn't 12v and the PS4 has a built in AC to DC converter. Just another option for you.
