The Malaysian Grand Prix (Malay: Grand Prix Malaysia, officially the Malaysia Grand Prix from 1963–1965 and 2011–2017 and Malayan Grand Prix in 1962) was an annual auto race held in Malaysia. It was part of the Formula One World Championship from 1999 to 2017 and it was held during these years at the Sepang International Circuit .
The circuit hosted the Malaysian motorcycle Grand Prix in 1998, [3] as well as two races of the Superbike World Championship in 1992 and 1993.. The Asian Festival of Speed, comprising the Asian Touring Car Championship and the Asian Formula 2000 series, used to host its events at Johor Circuit in the early 2000s. [4]
The Main Racing Track can cater for distances ranging from 1,200 to 2,400 metres races and 25 metres width and is a left-handed oval-shaped grass track turfed with Zoysia El-Toro turf. The Zoysia El-Toro turf track has a deep-rooted system, which provides a cushion effect for the horses.
