Stony Island is an island in the eastern end of Lake Ontario. [1] [2] It is located in Jefferson County, New York. The island covers 1,536 acres (6.22 km 2). [3] Originally, the island was covered by large cedar trees. It was cleared for farming in the 19th century but is now largely wooded again.
Henderson Bay – An arm of Lake Ontario in the northwestern part of the town, partly defined by Stony Point and the mainland. Henderson Pond – A lake southwest of Henderson village. Hoveys Island – A location at the northern tip of Stony Point. Rays Bay – A bay at the southwestern tip of Stony Point.

The Stony Point (Henderson) Light is a lighthouse on the shore of Lake Ontario near Henderson Bay in New York. The site was established in 1826, and the original lighthouse was lit in 1869. The light and attached keeper's quarters are currently privately owned. A new light was built in 1945, and it was automated in 1950.
The community is in the valley of Stony Creek, a southwestward-flowing tributary of Lake Ontario. New York State Route 178 runs through the center of the community, leading west 1 mile (1.6 km) to New York State Route 3 and southeast 9 miles (14 km) to Adams. Several of Wehle's pointer sculptures can be found in the park, as well as dog kennels, and a dog cemetery. Prior to his death in 2002, he arranged for the property to be sold to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, who purchased the parkland for $2.8 million. The park was opened to the public in 2004.
