Prior to this, around 1996, Combined Science GCSEs were available as an alternative to three separate Sciences for many exam boards. Combined Science consists of either Higher Tier (HT) or Foundation Tier (FT) papers AQA offer two different specifications entitled Synergy and Trilogy. [2]
AQA Education, [1] trading as AQA (formerly the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance), is an awarding body in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. For each of biology, chemistry and physics there are three papers and one practical exam: Paper 1 is one hour long, Paper 2 is one hour and fifteen minutes, Paper 3 is a practical skills paper and is thirty minutes long, and the practical exam is one hour long.
