Mara Jade Skywalker is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. She appears in the now non-canon Legends continuity as the wife of Luke Skywalker and mother of Ben Skywalker . She has been voiced by Heidi Shannon, Edie Mirman and Kath Soucie in various Star Wars video games .
A fan of the franchise, Shannon McRandle auditioned for the opportunity to represent Mara Jade's image when Lucasfilm opted to use a photographic likeness as a model for the character. In 1999, McRandle was photographed for this purpose, known at the time as Shannon Baksa due to her marriage to her first husband in 1994.
Mara Jade was created by Timothy Zahn as an antagonist for Heir to the Empire (1991), [36] and she and Luke marry several years later in the comic miniseries Union (1999-2000). She joins his restored Jedi Order, and they have a son, Ben Skywalker, in the middle of the New Jedi Order series (1999-2003).
