The Rugby Africa Cup is a two-year men's rugby union tournament involving the top 16 African nations based on their World Rugby rankings, it is organised by Rugby Africa. The tournament was first held in 2000. [1] It was renamed the Rugby Africa Cup in November 2019, it was previously called the Africa Cup since 2006, the CAR Top 9 and CAR Top 10.
The 2022 Rugby Africa Women's Cup is the second edition of the Rugby Africa Women's Cup following the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 editions due to COVID-19 related restrictions. The 12 teams are split in 4 pools that play a single round-robin where the winners classify to the second phase of the tournament.
The 2022 Africa Cup acted as the third and final round of the African Qualification process, whereby the winner of an 8-team straight knockout competition qualified for the World Cup as Africa 1. The runner-up advanced to the final Qualification Tournament as Africa 2.
