BBC Radio 1 Anthems is a British online-only radio stream, owned and operated by the BBC and run as a spin-off from BBC Radio 1. The station launched on 8 November 2024 and plays a wide range of music and acts supported by the main Radio 1 network in the 2000s and 2010s. [ 2 ]

BBC Radio 1 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC.It specialises in modern popular music and current chart hits throughout the day. The station provides alternative genres at night, including electronica, dance, hip hop and indie, while its sister station 1Xtra plays black contemporary music, including hip hop and R&B.
In November 2018, it was announced that they would move to BBC Radio 1 to replace Charlie Sloth in the mid-evening slot. [4] Their new show debuted on 1 April 2019. [ 5 ] On 20 April 2021, it was announced that the trio would be moving to the mid-morning slot then occupied by Clara Amfo , who would take over the early evening slot from Annie Mac .
On Saturdays, Radio 1 Dance Morning with Arielle Free streams from 9 am to 12pm. From midday, there is a 60-minute non-stop mix from Dance Anthems, hosted by Charlie Hedges. 4 April – BBC Radio 1 extends its weeknight broadcasting hours. The station's daytime weekday programmes are extended by an hour to 7pm and the John Peel show is also extended by an hour to two hours. Consequently, Radio 1 now borrows Radio 2's VHF/FM frequencies for two hours each weeknight, between 10pm and midnight.
Scott Mills joined Radio 1 on 12 October 1998, hosting the early breakfast show between 4–6:30am. On his fourth day on the job, he was asked to substitute for Zoe Ball on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show at the last minute, and he remained the regular cover host for many years thereafter, continuing for Sara Cox, Chris Moyles, Nick Grimshaw and Greg James.
