Columbus City Schools, formerly known as Columbus Public Schools, is the official school district for the city of Columbus, Ohio, and serves most of the city (portions of the city are served by suburban school districts). Cranbrook Elementary School is a public elementary school in the Northwest Columbus area in Ohio, USA. It is rated "Excellent" by the Ohio Department of Education and was honored by the Blue Ribbon Schools Program in 2003. [1] [2] Cranbrook serves students in grades Kindergarten through 5 as well as early childhood education. [3]
The district operates 14 elementary schools (K-5th Grades), two sixth grade schools, three middle schools (7-8th Grades), and three high schools (9-12th grades). Thus, the district is the eighth largest in Ohio.
A crowning achievement of the district was the opening, during the 1970–1971 school year, of two new high schools: Westland High School and Grove City High School. These two buildings, planned to house two thousand students, were built in 1970-1971 at the amazing low cost of $18.98 per square foot, or a perpupil cost of $1,700.
Southwood Elementary School is a public elementary school in Columbus, Ohio, part of Columbus City Schools. The school building, located in the city's Merion Village neighborhood, was completed in 1894 and was designed by David Riebel. It was added to the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 2002. [1] The school opened on December 3, 1894.
