The Opel GT is a front-engine, rear-drive two-seat sports car manufactured and marketed by Opel in two generations separated by a 34-year hiatus. The first generation Opel GT (1968 [ 1 ] –1973) debuted as a styling exercise in 1965 at the Paris and Frankfurt motor shows. [ 2 ]
The 1.8 was very popular and was in production for 5 years (1982–1987). The 2.0S models where discontinued in 1984 and only the GSi was available with the "large" engine (GT/E in the UK). In 1986 Opel released the last Manta B model the Exclusive (1987 in the UK), giving it all of the best in equipment.

The best-selling Opel models in the U.S. were the 1964 to 1972 Opel Kadett, the 1971 to 1975 Opel Manta, and the 1968 to 1973 Opel GT. [ 65 ] [ 66 ] (The name "Opel" was also applied from 1976 to 1980 to vehicles manufactured by Isuzu (similar to the " Isuzu I-Mark "), but mechanically those were entirely different cars).
In June 1972, prior to the September launch of their new diesel engine, Opel set two world records and eighteen international records at the Dudenhofen proving ground with their diesel Rekordwagen. The Cosworth-Opel KF engine is a production-based, high-revving, prototype, four-stroke, 2.5-liter, naturally aspirated, V-6 racing engine, originally designed, developed and produced by Opel, in collaboration with Cosworth, for the DTM and later ITC, between 1993 and 1996. [5]
