Terra Rosa (Japanese: テラ・ローザ, Hepburn: Tera Rōza, Portuguese for "Pink Earth") was a Japanese heavy metal band formed by keyboardist Masashi "Jill" Okagaki and female vocalist Kazue Akao in Osaka in 1982. Their musical style was notably under the influence of Western metal, [1] most notably British band Rainbow. [2]
The term terra rosa (a misspelling of 'terra rossa', Italian for "red soil") can refer to: Terra rosa (soil), a red clay soil produced by the weathering of limestone;
The terra rossa classification was still, as of 1997, a part of the national soil classifications of countries such as Israel and Italy. The UNESCO / FAO World map equivalents are the chromic luvisols (a sub-order of the luvisols ), and the USDA soil taxonomy equivalent is the rhodustalfs (a sub-order of the ustalfs ).
Terra fusca (black earth) is one of the two main soils of the Mediterranean region, the other being terra rossa (red earth). Terra fusca is found mainly in forested areas and has limestone as a key ingredient. It is non-acidic as the limestone cancels any acidity. [1]
The name should be "terra rossa" (rossa with 2s, red) and not rosa (pink in italian or rose in latin). It should be also merged with Red Mediterranean soil--Biopresto 12:13, 24 June 2009 (UTC) Except for wikipedia 'terra rosa' is always spelled 'terra rossa' in English. --Balleur 09:48, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
