The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) is one of the major foreign affairs organizations of the People's Republic of China.The organization is officially termed a "people's organization" and manages China's sister city relationships.
The China Friendship and Peace Development Foundation was established on May 15, 1996. On December 14, 2021, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China publicly announced the "2020 National Social Organization Evaluation Grade", in which the China Foundation for Friendship and Peaceful Development successfully achieved a 4A rating.
The medal is decorated with a picture of the Great Wall on the obverse along with the inscription "Friendship Award" in Chinese ("友谊奖", on the top), and in English (on the bottom). Besides the national friendship award, various local foreign expert awards are also being made at the provincial, regional, and municipal levels. [2]
Notable members of the National Steering Committee included Koji Ariyoshi, a veteran of the World War II Dixie Mission to Yenan and founder of the Hawaii-China Friendship Association, and New York activists Helen V. Rosen and Esther Gollobin. The Koji Ariyoshi Award, established after his death in 1976, is the organization's highest honor.
