The school has a student body population of about 500 in sixth through twelfth grade. Most of SCLA's students live in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area and travel to and from school each day. Approximately 150 of the students are boarding school students from elsewhere in America or from other countries, who live in an on-campus residence.

High School for Recording Arts (HSRA) is a public charter high school located in the Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. The school pioneered the concept of connecting with at-risk students through a hip-hop music program, hence the nickname "Hip-Hop High." [2] [3] There are no tuition fees.
Grover Cleveland High School was established in 1897; it was renamed Johnson Senior High School in 1911. By 1906, the Saint Paul Public Schools district had around 27,940 students attending it. Eight years later in 1914, the Saint Paul city government took control of all educational matters.
West St. Paul is served by Independent School District 197 public schools and is home to Moreland Arts and Sciences Magnet School (K-4), Garlough Environmental Magnet School (K-4), Heritage E-Stem Magnet School (grades 5-8), and Two Rivers High School (grades 9-12).
