Created by Chuck Austen and Sean Philips, the character first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #428 (August 2003). He belongs to the subspecies of humans named mutants, who are born with superhuman abilities. He is the father of the X-Men's Kiwi Black [1] [2] and was originally the father of Nightcrawler as well until that was retconned in 2023.

Uncanny X-Men, originally published as The X-Men, is an American comic book series published by Marvel Comics since 1963, and is the longest-running series in the X-Men comics franchise.
Cyclops first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963). He was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and has been a mainstay character of the X-Men series. Lee said that Cyclops and Beast were his two favorite X-Men, elaborating that "I love tortured heroes—and he was tortured because he couldn't control his power."
Unlike most adaptations, she is depicted as being his first student. Her costume is largely the same as the one she wore in Uncanny X-Men #281 when she joined Storm's Gold Team, although her hair is tied back rather than worn loose.
