I wrote this in a matter of minutes. The rest of the album was done. I listened to it and thought, 'There’s not a good single.' So I sent the band out to a game of football and made up 'Evil Woman' on the spot. The first three chords came right to me. It was the quickest thing I’d ever done. We kept it slick and cool, kind of like an R&B song.
"Strange Magic" is the sixth track on the album and the second on side two. It was the second single lifted from Face the Music, being released in February 1976, though was not as successful as "Evil Woman". The track opens with a 21-second orchestra intro before cutting to a guitar lick with a soft piano.

Olé ELO is a compilation album by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) covering their early years. Released in 1976, this LP was originally compiled by United Artists Records as a promotional album for American radio stations, but when copies of the LP started selling to fans "underground" United Artists decided to release it in the US to capitalize on the band's growing popularity.
