By 1927, the section of K-156 from Garden City to Great Bend was established as US-50N. K-156 was originally US-156, an intrastate U.S. Highway that was formed in 1957, and ran from Garden City to Great Bend. Between 1966 and 1967, US-156 was extended northeast, along K-45, to I-70 northeast of Ellsworth.
By 1967, US-156 had been extended northeast from Larned along US-56 to Great Bend, then along K-45 to I-70 northeast of Ellsworth, at which time the K-45 designation was removed. [ 14 ] [ 15 ] On October 13, 1967, US-40 was rerouted to overlap the newly constructed section of I-70 from Dorrance to Salina.
K-140 is a 33.224-mile-long (53.469 km) state highway in Ellsworth and Saline Counties in the U.S. state of Kansas.
