Its Metro level is directly connected to the Pentagon City station on the Blue and Yellow Lines of the Washington Metro.
The mall opened as an open-air shopping center in 1959, known as the Prince George's Plaza (PGP). It was expanded several times and was enclosed circa 1977. The mall featured a food court, and until 2013, formerly a large children's play area at the center. Following the closure of three of its four anchor stores , JCPenney , Lord & Taylor , and Sears in 2019, Macy's remained as the mall's final remaining anchor store until 2023, [7] with the rest of the mall closing shortly after.
