Even for small articles, I find it convenient if there's a heading indicating in which part of the article I may find a short history, a collection of external links, or a simple example, or the specific detail I'm looking for. Also, subheads can help making it clear for a writer what he's writing about in that part of the article.
Headings are hierarchical. The article's title uses a level 1 heading, so you should start with a level 2 heading (==Heading==) and follow it with lower levels: ===Subheading===, ====Subsubheading====, and so forth. Whether extensive subtopics should be kept on one page or moved to individual pages is a matter of personal judgment.
Even if the heading is (or contains) the title of another Wikipedia article, don't wikilink it. Instead, the first paragraph of the section should mention—and link to—that article. (Links in headings also cause accessibility problems for visually impaired readers using special software to read Wikipedia articles.)
