Avoid using jargon. Assume that new users will read the essay, and not just experienced ones. Essays are regularly quoted on article talk pages, and it's possible for a newcomer to stumble on one. Avoid using shortcuts within an essay. Instead, write out the full name of the policy or guideline. Examples:
Against-the-rule astigmatism – the horizontal meridian is steepest (a rugby ball or American football standing on its end). [17] Oblique astigmatism – the steepest curve lies in between 120 and 150 degrees and 30 and 60 degrees. [17] Irregular astigmatism – principal meridians are not perpendicular.
Astigmatism causes difficulties in seeing fine detail. Astigmatism can be often corrected by glasses with a lens that has different radii of curvature in different planes (a cylindrical lens), contact lenses, or refractive surgery. [5] Astigmatism is quite common. Studies have shown that about one in three people suffers from it.
Near-sightedness is due to the length of the eyeball being too long; far-sightedness the eyeball too short; astigmatism the cornea being the wrong shape, while presbyopia results from aging of the lens of the eye such that it cannot change shape sufficiently. [3] Some refractive errors occur more often among those whose parents are affected.
For example, list of Indian language poets should link to both list of Indians and list of poets. Lower order (i.e., more specific) articles and lists – for example, the Business page navigational list contains links to small business, list of accounting topics, etc.
This allows a larger useful field of view, and the remaining astigmatism is symmetrical around the distorted objects, allowing astrometry across the wide field of view. However, the astigmatism can be reduced by including a third curved optical element. When this element is a mirror, the result is a three-mirror anastigmat.
Conductive keratoplasty (CK): Conductive keratoplasty is a non laser refractive procedure used to correct presbyopia and low hypermetropia (+0.75D to +3.25D) with or without astigmatism (up to 0.75D). [22] [25] It uses radiofrequency energy to heat and shrink corneal collagen tissue.
The advice in this guideline is not limited to the examples provided and should not be applied rigidly. If a word can be replaced by one with less potential for misunderstanding, it should be. [ 1 ] Some words have specific technical meanings in some contexts and are acceptable in those contexts, e.g. claim in law .
