Amsterdam Centraal metro station (called Centraal Station on the Amsterdam Metro system) opened in 1980. It is the terminus station of three routes: Line 51 (Amsterdam Centraal - Isolatorweg), Line 53 (Amsterdam Centraal - Gaasperplas), and Line 54 (Amsterdam Centraal - Gein). In July 2018, the new Line 52 (Noord Station - Zuid Station) opened.
Metro Line 51 (Dutch: Metrolijn 51), also known as the Ring Line (Ringlijn), is an Amsterdam Metro line running from Amsterdam Centraal station to Isolatorweg metro station, almost creating a full circle through Amsterdam. It was opened in December 1990 as a metro/tram hybrid line named sneltram ('express tram') and served the suburb of Amstelveen.
Since 3 March 2019, the Amstelveen section of route 51 has been discontinued. Line 51 was upgraded to a full metro line and now runs between Central Station and Isolatorweg. Since December 2020, tram line 25 has been serving the route from Zuid Station to Westwijk.
The 15 tram lines within Amsterdam's tram network serve all boroughs in Amsterdam except for Amsterdam-Noord on the north side of the IJ and Amsterdam Zuidoost. [2] Tram lines 5 and 25 extend south of the borough of Amsterdam-Zuid to serve the municipalities of Amstelveen [4] and Uithoorn, [5] and tram line 19 extends east of the borough of Amsterdam-Oost to serve the municipality of Diemen.
The Weesperplein–Gaasperplas route was opened on 14 October 1977 and replaced the busy bus line 56. On 11 October 1980, the extension from Weesperplein to Centraal Station followed. [ 2 ] Until 2013, almost only type M1, M2 and M3 rolling stock were in service on this line, which were built for this line between 1973 and 1980.

The line starts above ground in Amsterdam-Noord and passes under the IJ and the Centraal Station. The route continues through a bored tunnel under the Damrak, The Dam, Rokin, Vijzelstraat, Vijzelgracht, Ferdinand Bolstraat and the Scheldestraat. From the Europaplein, the line was constructed using the cut and cover method.
Megabus operate coaches from Amsterdam to London and other UK cities, departing from Zeeburg P&R site, on Tram 26 (Stop Zuiderzeeweg). Amsterdam Centraal is an international train station. From the station there are regular services with destinations in Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
